Here's my Peace Corps time line so far...
August - application/recommendations completed
September 2 - Interview
September 9 - Nomination for youth HIV/Aids awareness in Saharan Africa, Leaving January 2010
Mid-September - Received Medical/Dental packets
So now I have completed all the required blood tests, vaccines, physicals and exams, just waiting on all of the results so I can finish the packet and send it to DC. I keep trying to remind myself how lucky I am to get a nomination that leaves so soon, but I am a little frantic about getting all the medical stuff in asap! I know that many/most people wait a year or even more until leaving, so I am trying not to keep my hopes up, in case it changes.

Hey guys...I am Justine Lily, a recent recipient of a Peace Corps invitation. I will be leaving for Malawi this February to work with a business program focusing on sustainable agriculture and environmental projects. I am incredibly excited to begin this new chapter in my life and share it with family and friends (and whoever may be interested)through this blog! And of course...the views in this blog are mine entirely and not related to the U.S. Government or the Peace Corps.

- This address will be changing, so make sure to check back before you send anything!
-Don't forget to write "Air Mail" or "Par Avion" on the letter or package.
-It would be great if you numbered your letters, then I will know which ones I am missing and when you sent them.
-Letters take 2-3 weeks, packages 6-9 weeks. It is highly recommended that you always send large envelopes instead of boxes that can take up to twice as long.
-It is also recommended that you write religious phrases or words on the package, it can help greatly with theft!
-Be succinct on the customs form. For example, there is no need to write "wonderful delicious treats" if you are sending chocolate. Try "food product" or something. It will help assure my package gets to me in one piece.
